Near the end of August, Lucas went to Atlanta, Georgia for a business trip, and I got to tag along! I've never traveled anywhere outside the 7 states here on the West coast (Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Utah, part of Montana, part of Wyoming, the southern tip of California, when I was a toddler we went to Nevada, but I don't remember. Oh, and Alberta, Canada:)
The first 5 days I was on my own while Lucas was in training. I hit every mall, thrift store, and antique shop in the outer Atlanta area. Thank goodness for the GPS that came with the rental car, it was Fabulous, I had no trouble getting to where I wanted to go. It was definitely strange to be on my own, especially in an unfamiliar place, but I loved every minute of it:)
--Really nice hotel that the business hooked us up with:)
We took a lot of pictures, here is our hotel (Embassy Suites in Kennesaw, Georgia), and some unique things that I loved about the south: (Ok, #1 thing I didn't like... the humidity... ewwwww! (The hotel picture was taken in the morning, and this particular morning you could see the humidity... it was at almost 100% humidity the entire trip)
-- Georgia and parts of Alabama had these lovely vines that hung on everything. I loved how green the south was, and the vines were my favorite. I'm sure Lucas got tired of hearing me talk about the green stuff, but I didn't care, it was so fascinating for some reason:)
They had these beautiful light pink, and dark pink flowers all over in Georgia, I'm not even sure what kind of flowers they were, but I loved them!
Ok, so road kill isn't unique to the south, but Opossums are... there were so many dead Opossums that I had to take a picture of one. Maybe it's a little morbid, and I'm sure the people who were driving by wondered what I was doing, but I had to get a picture of the poor, dead thing.:)
Once Lucas was done with training, we had 5 days of FUN!:) I loved being with my honey, this trip was the most time we'd spent together in a long time. It was so nice to just be together... I personally felt like it was a way better trip than our honeymoon:) (wink, wink:)
Here are a few restaurants we ate at... WAFFLE HOUSE was our Favorite! Looked like a Dive, but had the best food!:)
--Lucas was soooo Excited about eating at The Cracker Barrel... can you tell?:)
-- Yummy, melt in your mouth Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes, and something I've never had before... Fried Ocra (it was "different":)
-- Los Reyes had some really yummy mexican food, what I loved about this restaurant was the decor... the inside looked like you were sitting under the stars in a courtyard of sorts... the picture doesn't do it justice:(
We ate at "The Bugaboo Steak House" & "Smokey Bones" mainly for their names...:)
--Kissing the Bugaboo Moose (this picture was for Erikka:)
(I failed to add this picture in my original post...) "Five Guys" was soooooooooo YUMMY, seriously the BEST burger and fries I've ever had. (All fresh ingredients, made to order, just mouth watering:)
Stay tuned for more from the south...:)

Looks like a great trip! We tried Waffle House three years ago when we went to Kansas City just because it was the only thing open and thought the same thing. Now, any trip Andy takes on that side of the country, he eats there. We love Waffle House. He said that when he went to North Carolina all the restaurants had ratings from the health department and one restaurant he went to had 83 and Waffle House had 97.
Humidity is awful in the summer in that area.
Can't wait to read more about your fun trip!
That is AWESOME! Congratulations. Who had the kids?
